Below you can find some of the most common questions asked by our users.

  • Smartr is free of charge!

    As of today all Smartr functionalities can be used free of charge!

  • Unfortunately, neither you nor Smartris able to change the email address on your SmartrProfile.

    Once youapplyfor a job, the email address submitted on the application is tied to your Candidate profile. The best recommendation we can make is to access the application and reapply for the position using the correct email address.

    Make sure to notify the hiring team at the company that you are the same person as the person with the undesired email address. You can do this by using the ‘Message to Hiring Manager’ text field located on the application.

  • You can edit the name on the application using yourSmartrProfilecreated after the submission of the application. Please follow the instructions below;

    • Access yourSmartrProfile(Navigate tosmartr.me)
    • Log In
    • Click the ‘Complete mySmartProfile’ button
    • Click the pencil icon in the 'Personal Information' section

    • After editing your name, Click the 'Save' button

    You will be asked to update the companies that you applied to with your recent changes.Click the 'Yes' button.Once you complete these tasks your name will be successfully changed at the company that you applied to.

  • Your SmartrProfile isonly visible to you, unless you decide to either:

    • Share a link to your SmartrProfile to others after making it public (Idealto promote yourself and your skills!)or
    • Attach a link to your application when applying to jobs (a great way to show the company’s Hiring Team your Profile and Skills!)

    You have full control over the visibility and usage of your SmartrProfile using the‘Share’ button or the ‘My SmartrProfile’ Settingsin your SmartrProfile .

    You canat any timedeactivate the public link using the toggle and/or the ‘Deactivate my Link’ button seen in the screenshots above.

    Also rest assured that, when submitting an application, that application is only visible to the company you appliedto. For example; if youapplied to two(2) companies, H&M and Dentsu, H&M cannot see the Dentsuapplication and vise versa.

  • We would be sad to see you go.

    Please keep in mind that currently basic usage of Smartr is free of charge and that your SmartrProfile is only visible to you and the companies to which you’ve applied to and to no one else!

    If you still wish to delete your SmartrProfile you can;

    1. Access SmartrProfile via https://smartr.me. Make sure to use the same email address you used to apply;

    2. Click your name, upper right-hand side of your candidate portal.

    3. Click on the 'Settings'

    4. Click the 'Delete my Smartraccount'

    5. From the pop-up window, check the 2 acknowledgment questions and click the 'Yes, I would like to delete my SmartrCandidate Portal account.' button

  • Smartr is the system that powers the hiring experience between over 4,000 employers and candidates like you, but we do not control each employer’s actual recruiting operations or timing. However, wecan offer a little insight into the application process.

    Once the employer you applied to has moved the hiring step forward or set up an interview, you will automatically see that change in your dashboard-- accessible atwww.smartr.me, and via email.

    While every company has its own process, the typical flow goes something like this:

    1.Recruiters review resumes/applications
    2.Recruiters screen candidates by phone
    3.Hiring Manager interviews candidates
    4.Team interviews candidates
    5.Candidates take skills tests
    6.Executive/approver interviews candidates
    7.Recruiters check references
    8.Background check is run if needed

    Note: only in case you have applied to a job of one of our Enterprise customers, the status will be updated. Jobs that you have added manually or using SmartrInbox to Smartrwill not be updated automatically. You can do that easily by using drag- and drop between statuses.

    Please keepin mind that the average company takes36 daysto fill a position with30%of companies hiring in under a month &70%taking between 1-4 months. There’s been a 4X increase in the number of applications per job, so the Hiring Team may be swamped in reviewing applications. We hope that they get to yours soon and update you with the next steps.

    We are working on 'Smartr Insights' that will give you more information about the application status and when you could expect a response from the hiring team.

    As said, we build enterprise talent acquisition softwareused by companies to power their hiring success and arenot directly involved in the hiring process of these companies. Every company has a different hiring process and there is no way to promise when the next update will take place.

    To increase your chances (it takes on average 20 applications to land a job!):

    • Keepyour SmartrProfile up to date
    • Set your job preferences
    • Apply toour personalized job recommendations

    And if you’ve applied to other opportunities within Smartr, we hope that you hear back as soon as possible!

  • Most likely your application was unsuccessful and has been "Archived".

    Basically, the "Archived" status means that your application was either Transferred, Withdrawn, or Rejected by the Hiring Team. Having said that, every Hiring Team has different practices and has the option to reach out to their candidates at their discretion. Also, there is no way for Smartrto tell you the reason why the Hiring Team marked your application as "Archived".

    Archived applications can be found as follows:

    1. Click on your name
    2. Click the ‘Settings’ button in the pop-up window
    3. Scroll to ‘Review my Archived Jobs’ button

    Don't lose hope! Even though it didn't work out this time, there is always more opportunity. We encourage you to:

    • Update your profile- Add more experience and skills relevant to positions you're interested in to stand out from the crowd.
    • Apply to other jobs- Search through thousands of active job opportunities in Smartr.You might be pleasantly surprised by recommended jobs.
    • Try out our content in tips and tricks- Further improve your chances of landing your dream job.

      Please keep in mind that SmartRecruiters is an enterprise talent acquisition suite used by companies to make their hiring success by finding candidates through our platform. SmartRecruiters is not involved in the hiring process of our customers.

    • Currently, Smartronly shows applications that originated from our SmartRecruiters 1-Click service: aka applications where you officially applied to a publicly sourced application. Internal jobs of companies are not shown within Smartr.

      Please verify the type and status of your applicationwith the companies' Hiring team.

    • To withdraw your application follow the steps below:

      1. Navigate to smartr.me

      2. Log in using the same email address used to apply

      3. Click the ‘Home’ button

      4. Click on the job title you wish to withdraw from

      5. Click the ‘SEE MY APPLICATION’ button in the side panel

      6. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on ‘View Options’.

      7. Here you'll be able to withdraw from a particular job by clicking the two (2) consent boxes

      8. Then click, 'Yes, I would like to withdraw my application'

    • The "Archived" status means that your application was either Transferred, Withdrawn, or Rejected by the Hiring Team.

      Every Hiring Team has different practices and has the option to reach out to their candidates at their discretion. Also, there is no way for Smartrto tell you the reason why the Hiring Team marked your application as "Archived".

      Archived applications can be found as follows:

      1. Log in to your SmartrProfile at smartr.me
      2. Click on your name
      3. Click the ‘Settings’ button in the pop-up window
      4. Scroll to ‘Review my Archived Jobs’ button
    • This status is shown on your application.

      Status Inactive means your application was either Rejected, Withdrawn or Moved to another Job by the Hiring team.

      Every Hiring Team has different practices and unfortunately, there is no way for us to give you more details about their decisions.

      SmartRecruiters is an enterprise talent acquisition suite used by companies to make their hiring success by finding candidates through our platform. SmartRecruiters and Smartr are not involved in the hiring process of our customers.

    • Weunderstand there are cases that requireyou to withdraw and then reapply to a position. This might be the case when you want to change the information you provided during the initial apply. At this moment there is, unfortunately, no direct way to do this using Smartr. We are working on that.


      If a job hasn’t expired yet and the company is still sourcing the position, you can apply to a position previously withdrawn by following the steps below:

      1. Log in to smartr.me
      2. Click on your name

      3. Click the ‘Settings’ button in the drop-down window

      4. Scroll to and click the ‘Review my Archived Jobs’ button

      5. Click the job you wish to reapply to

      6. In the slide out panel click the ‘SEE MY APPLICATION’ button

      7. Click the on the job title to access the application (if still sourcing)

      8. Now apply using the ‘Apply with Profile’ button

      Before re-submitting your apply, review the entire application and make accurate adjustments.

      NOTE: To make sure this application will show on the tracker board again, delete the application from your Archived jobs by clicking the three dots on the right and choosing "Delete".

    • On your computeryou can reset your password by following the steps below:

      1. Click the ‘Reset Password’ link

      2. Enter the same email address you used to when creating your SmartrProfile

      3. Click the ‘Submit’ button

      Check your mailbox for an email fromnotifications@smartr.me that will containa button takingyou back to Smartr to reset your password.

      TIP: Make sure to check your SPAM folder!

      TIP: Please add notifications@smartr.me to your contacts or to your list of safe email senders.

      Resetting your password when on your mobile

      If you are on a mobile phonethe link to reset your password is currently not visible. Follow the instructions below on your computer or use the option 'Desktop site' or 'Show desktop version' on your mobile phone to have access to the desktop version of our website and the Reset Password option and then follow the instructions as mentioned above.

    • If you encounter issues finalizing and sending your application, make sure to check the following:

      1. Make sure the message to the hiring manager does NOT contain any special characters like {, }, \, <, >, ; The form indicates when this is the case like shown below
      2. Make sure to disable any popup-blocker software you have installed for our website(s). Our so-called Captchawe use to prevent sending spam to companies might be affected by this and this would prevent the application to be sent.

    • If a company has asked you to pay a fee to be hired or to start your job (equipment etc), then it is most likely a scam. We suggest you don’t send money to any company to be hired. If you receive a suspicious contact, please alert us at supportfeedback@smartr.me.

      The only time you are asked to pay within Smartr is if you would like to enjoy Smartr premium features or partner services like upskilling classes. If you are in doubt, please contact our support team before sending any payment.

    • Smartrhelps you to be more successful in your application process.

      We apologize for any inconvenience caused by removingthe Job Search feature.

      Looking at our data we realized that users prefer the results from recommendations over those fromjob searches (users apply 15% more to jobs from recommendations). Also job search had some limitations. For example, it was not allowing you to look for jobs ina whole country.

      Our job preferences that will be used for recommendations DOES have that option! :)

      In short, we have decided to really focus on giving you suitable recommended job offers and help you save time by no longer needing to search yourself.

      We know that a lot of users were looking for jobs at a particular company, typically the company they already applied to. Good news; soon we will launch a special section in our recommended jobs showing you other suitable jobs at the companies you've applied to.

      Please go ahead and have a look at your recommended jobs in the MyJobs Recommendations section. Make sure to update your preferences and also provide enough SmartrProfile data (education, work history and skills) for us to work with!

    • Smartrhelps you to be more successful in your application process and we recommend job offers based on your profile, your job preferences, and past applications.

      The mechanism we use is quite complex and uses the information we have available to generate the best and most personalized matches.

      To be able for us to provide you with offers we ask you to:

      Please go ahead and have a look at your recommended jobs in the MyJobs Recommendations sectionand make sure to provide us with enough information for us to help you.

    • Smartrhelps you to be more successful in your application process and we want to provide you with the best possible support.

      Unfortunately, users have been reporting a lot of issues with the Chrome extension and we are now deliberating what to do next. In the meantime, we have decided to unpublish the extension from the Chrome web store.

      Do not worry though!You can still add interesting jobs you find on the web to the Smartr tracker board using the 'Add job manually' option on the Saved Jobs Page

      It is fast and easy.

    • In order to completely delete any and all profiles and data from Smartrand at companies you've applied to, you must follow the instructions below.

      1st.Delete your Profile from the company you applied to:

      1. Access Smartr Profile using this link,https://www.smartr.me/. Make sure to use the same email address you used to apply;
      2. Click on the job you wish to delete
      3. Click the ‘SEE MY APPLICATIONS’ button in the side panel
      4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the ‘View Options’ button
      5. Click the ‘Withdraw this application’ button
      6. In the pop-down window click ‘Delete Profile at <company>’
      7. Acknowledge all three (3) consent squares
      8. Click the ‘Yes, I would like to delete my profile’ bar.

      2nd. Delete your Smartr Profile:

      1. Access Smartr Profile
      2. Click your name button on the right-hand side of your candidate portal.
      3. Click on the ‘Settings’
      4. Click the ‘Delete my Smartr account’ button
      5. From the pop-up check the 2 acknowledgment questions and click the ‘Yes, I would like to delete my Smartr candidate portal account’ button

      These actions will delete all your information from the databases at the company you applied to and your Smartr Profile. If you just want to delete your Smartr Profile and not the applications at the company(ies) you applied to, only follow the 2nd instruction.

    • When you find your application in the 'NOT SELECTED' column, unfortunately, it means that for this particular job you were not selected by the hiring team.

      You may or may not have received an additional email from the company. Be aware that the hiring process of the company is out of the control of Smartrso we can not guarantee that the hiring team will get back to you directly.

      Smartr is here to help you when you are not successful and as we know that it takes on average 20 applications to be successful, we don't want you to lose hope.

      Here are three things you can do next:

      1. Make sure to open the application in the NOT SELECTED column and see if we were able to generate some insights for you. It might be that some important skills were missing from your profile and we will tell you what skills you could add to your profile to improve your chances next time.
      2. Check outthe Job recommendations section to see if Smartr has found other suitable jobs at the same company or jobs matching your profile and preferences.
      3. Make sure your profile is up to date with all your information and skills

    • The hiring team may request that you provide additional documents after applying or you may want to update the hiring team with some additional documents like aquired certificates etc.

      Follow these steps to add documents to your existing application.

      1. Log in to Smartr via https://www.smartr.me/public/sign-in usingthe same email address you have used to apply
      2. On the homepage of Smartr, click the ‘Manage my applications’ button
      3. Click the job you wish to add the resume/document(s) to
      4. In the side panel, click the ‘Seemyapplication’ button. This will open your application details page.

      5. On the right side, in the ‘Attachments’ section click the ‘Plus sign’ button

      6. Choose the resume/document(s) you want to be added to the application
      7. If your resume/document(s) do not upload, consider
      • Disabling any pop-up blockers that you may have enabled
      • Changing the layout, or reformatting the resume/document(s)
      • Changing the name of the document making sure your filename is completely in lowercase (not using any capital letters)

    Does smartr tell you if you've been rejected? ›

    What does not selected mean on smart? ›

    “Not Selected” prospects have a disposition reason similar to Rejection reasons. Transferred. Prospect has been manually removed from the community.

    What does in Review mean on smart recruiter? ›

    In Review. When someone leaves a review for a candidate in New status for a job, SmartRecruiters will change their status on the job to In Review. They'll stay in In Review status until someone schedules an interview or manually moves them to another status.
