Operating a Motorcycle in Indiana
In order to operate a motorcycle in the state of Indiana you must:
- Meet the state’s minimum age requirement
- Obtain an Indiana motorcycle license endorsem*nt (in some instances you may need to obtain a learner’s permit)
- Register your motorcycle with the state of Indiana
- Obtain insurance coverage that meets Indiana state requirements

According to the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles, in addition to meeting the requirements necessary to obtain a regular driver’s license, individuals must obtain a motorcycle endorsem*nt to operate a motorcycle.

Motorcyclists should sign up for a motorcycle safety course. In Indiana, it is not mandatory to complete a motorcycle safety course to obtain an Indiana motorcycle endorsem*nt.
