Here's a heads up if you're driving in downtown Des Moines. Starting Saturday, tickets will be issued if you're driving 11 miles an hour or more over the speed limit past a new traffic camera.The camera is placed on Grand Avenue west of 14th Street, near Western Gateway Park. The camera will start issuing speeding tickets with $65 fines.The camera was installed after police calls for excessive speed, reckless driving and street racing have become increasingly common.Police said over the last six months 40% of calls to that area of downtown have been traffic-related.
