  • What Distinguishes This Center

    Unlike other innovation centers and institutes, this Center focuses on market data rather than opinion or survey to identify the factors that make companies, countries, and R&D clusters innovative. No other Center inside or outside of universities is based on such research on a global scale.

    The Center has recruited a stellar Board of Advisors that can advise it on channeling its research in directions that are most important to its constituents, attracting qualified members, helping to plan events, and suggesting ways to maintain and enhance its thought leadership in business and academic circles.

    Gerard J Tellis (PhD Michigan) is Neely Chaired Professor of American Enterprise, Director of the Institute for Outlier Research in Marketing, Director of the Center for Global Innovation, at the USC Marshall School of Business. Dr. Tellis is an expert in innovation, advertising, social media, new product growth, and global market entry. He has published 7 books and over 200 papers (http://www.gtellis.net ) that have won over 30,000 citations in Google Scholar. His publications have won over 25 awards. He is Past-President ISMS and was an Associate Editor of Marketing Science and Journal of Marketing Research.

    • Adjunct Professor of Data Sciences and Operations

    As a member of the Senior Technical Leadership for Multicloud Management at Red Hat, Joydeep’s focus is Observability, Far Edge & Scalability. Previously at The Walt Disney Studios, he partnered with the VP of Strategic Initiatives to drive the digital transformation of a key application, breaking it into micro services and migrating it to Cloud. In his many years at IBM, Joydeep has spear headed key projects and worked across many technologies in the areas of Distributed Computing, Streaming Analytics & J2EE. He is big believer in DevOps transformation, Agile Methodology & Design Thinking. He is interested in replicating the success of AI/ML in other fields to the area of Observability.

    David Whelan

    David Whelan is the Boeing Integrated Defense Systems Chief Scientist and Vice President—General Manager, Deputy to the President of IDS Advanced Systems. David has responsibility to create, seek out and explore new technology and business growth vectors for the Boeing Company. Boeing's technology and systems span a wide range of government missions ranging from space systems to airborne systems to ground systems to undersea system. Both manned and unmanned systems have been developed to solve Boeing's customer challenges. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Boeing's Madrid Research and Technology Center and HRL Laboratories, the legacy R&D laboratory of the former Hughes Aircraft Company, a LLC jointly owned by Boeing and GM.

    Freeman Thomas

    As director of Strategic Design' Thomas' leads advanced design teams in both California and Dearborn. In addition to developing product design strategies and concept vehicles for Ford' Lincoln and Mercury' the Strategic Design team works closely with the Advanced Product Creation team of engineers and product experts to create compelling new production vehicles. Before joining Ford' Thomas was head of DaimlerChrysler's Pacifica Advanced Design Center.

    Raj Shah

    Raj Shah is an Engineering Director at Google. Google is exploring new ways to organize the world's information to make it universally accessible and useful. He is currently responsible for planning and coordinating Google's engineering growth across its 50 plus engineering centers worldwide. Prior to joining Google' Raj was Vice President of Engineering at Ketera Technologies' a KPCB funded start-up.
