American passport holders are required to have a visa, issued by a Belarusian Embassy or Consulate overseas, to enter Belarus. Please note that even with a visa, you are unlikely to be allowed entry to Belarus over a land border.

Using foreign credit and debit cards

Almost all major banks in Belarus do not accept foreign-issued cards. Those banks that do may charge a higher commission. There is also limited cash available. Many ATMs have limits on the amount of cash you can withdraw, particularly for foreign cards.

Upon the request of the consular officer, additional documents may be required for visa issuance. The regular visa processing time is 5 business days (expedite processing time – within 2 business days) after all necessary documents are submitted.
