Is the Can-Am Maverick X3, RZR Pro R, or RZR Turbo R the king of the RTI?
Marshall Williams
April 25, 2022The 2022 Polaris RZR Pro R Ultimate Dynamix is one of the fastest production UTVs you can purchase today, with its new 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine pushing out 225 hp. And, thanks to the upgraded 3.0 Fox Live Valve shocks, the R model has 22.5 inches of front travel and 24.5 inches of rear travel.
To put the Pro R to the test, we tried it out on our RTI ramp. This machine managed to travel 46.5 inches up the standard 20-degree slope. With its longer 104.5-inch wheelbase, the Pro R managed a very reasonable score of 445 on the RTI test.
That puts the Pro R behind the 2022 RZR Turbo R, which had a score of 635.4. The less powerful RZR did a bit better thanks to its short wheelbase, but the Pro R is no slouch, easily besting our 2020 Can-Am Maverick X3 X RS Turbo RR. That machine eked out a score of 372.5. We don’t expect high-speed rigs like these three to be RTI champions, but the spread is interesting. Knowing that the Pro R managed to surpass even more trail-oriented rigs like the 2022 Polaris General XP 1000 Trailhead edition—which had a score of 370.5—is also interesting.
As we always say, an RTI score isn’t a definitive measure of a machine. Like horsepower, torque, or ground clearance, it’s just another data point you can use to decide which machine is right for you.
