Speed cameras record the time a car enters and exits a particular area, and then calculate its average speed. To help drivers comply with speed limits and drive safely, Waze alerts you before you enter a speed camera zone. This alert disappears once you exit the enforced zone.
If you're driving over the speed limit, you’ll get both an alert on the map and a voice alert. If you're driving at or under the speed limit, you’ll only get an alert on the map.
Note: Speed cameras are added to the map based on reports from our partners and map editors – if a speed camera wasn't reported by an editor or partner, Waze may not know about it.
