He stabbed Ayanokōji after beating Sudou and Horikita. Little does he know that the action he had taken could lead him not only to face expulsion but also criminal charges. In order not to face those charges Ayanokōji offered that he would overlook what Hōsen had done under the two conditions, first is to build a cooperative relationship between Class 1-D and Class 2-D and second is to be Ayanokōji's partner at the special exam.
In Volume 2 it is noted by Nanase that Hosen is obsessed with fighting Ayanokoji now. Hosen decided to team up with Nanase and Amasawa to expel Ayanokoji in the Island Special Exam.

Since the announcement of the special exam Hōsen had shown aggressive attitude toward Sudou from the time he and Nanase had gone to the Second Year floor building. After the negotiations at the karaoke is over they headed toward the back of the first year dormitory where Hōsen grabbed Horikita's arm and Sudou finally got to brawl with Hōsen but he lost to Hōsen.
